Rainy Season

Boly’s rain came at the end of June and lasted until late August. With no irrigation system, compounds and roads flood to the point that it makes getting around particularly difficult, especially if you’re sick and need to travel to the road town to seek medical care. You can’t just take the direct road west, but need to head more north or south to loop your way back around.  In spite of the transportation, housing, health and ecological barriers it creates, the rains cool the air and turns our gardens and fields from dead brown to a lush green.

We’re eagerly anticipating and preparing for the upcoming season. At least I know I am…
